Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing leaves your device.

Merge bookmarks HTML files

Drop two or more bookmarks HTML files here Click to choose multiple files. Your files stay on your device.
Files are merged in the order shown. First occurrence wins for duplicates.

How it works

  1. Export bookmarks from each browser profile or computer as bookmarks HTML.
  2. Drop two or more files here and review the per-file link counts.
  3. Choose whether same-named folders should be merged or kept under separate file folders.
  4. Download one clean bookmarks HTML file with duplicates removed according to your settings.

Combine bookmark exports without creating a duplicate mess

Moving between computers, browser profiles, or old backups often leaves you with several bookmarks files that mostly overlap. Importing each file directly into Chrome works, but it can create repeated folders and duplicate links that are annoying to clean by hand.

This merger reads each bookmarks HTML file locally and builds one new folder tree. The default strategy merges folders with the same name at each level, so Work / Docs from two computers becomes one folder. If you want a more conservative archive, choose side-by-side mode and each source file gets its own folder.

Duplicate detection treats similar addresses as the same. Website addresses are compared without worrying about capitalization, trailing slashes are ignored, and the optional cleanup also ignores page sections (#) and common tracking info like utm_*, fbclid, and gclid. The first copy is kept, and if two copies were saved on different dates, the merged file keeps the earlier date.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I export from each computer?
On each computer, open the browser bookmark manager and choose Export bookmarks. Save each bookmarks HTML file with a clear name, such as laptop-bookmarks.html and desktop-bookmarks.html. Drop two or more of those files into this merger.
Which copy is kept for duplicates?
The first occurrence wins, based on the order you add files and the order links appear inside them. If duplicate copies were saved on different dates, the kept bookmark uses the earliest date so the merged file keeps the oldest save date.
What counts as a duplicate?
By default, two links count as the same if they point to the same address, ignoring capitalization in the domain and trailing slashes. The extra tracking option also ignores page sections (#) and removes common tracking info such as utm links, fbclid, and gclid. You can turn off duplicate removal if you want every copy kept.
Can I merge Firefox and Chrome files together?
Yes. Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari all export a similar style of bookmarks HTML file. This tool reads that file even if it has small formatting issues or missing tags, then writes out a clean bookmarks file you can import anywhere.
